The object of the Oley Valley High School National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote worthy leadership, and encourage the development of character in the students of the Oley Valley High School.

Membership in the OVHS chapter of the National Honor Society is an honor bestowed upon a student.  Selection for membership is by the Faculty Council and based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service.  

To be considered for membership, the candidate must:

  1. Be a member of the junior or senior class.

  2. Have attended OVHS for the equivalent of one semester and be a full-time student.  

  3. Have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.8 or better at the beginning of their junior or senior year.

  4. Demonstrate good character.

  5. Participate in at least three organizations while having served in a leadership position in at least one of them during the year prior to application.

  6. Demonstrate leadership qualities.

  7. Completed at least 10 hours of community service in the year prior to application, as well as completed the 30 hours community service graduation requirement.

Any junior or senior student who meets the above criteria may apply for membership at the beginning of his or her junior or senior year. If accepted, new members will be inducted at a special ceremony during the first semester.
